This is the Rhinoceros Hornbill as i said the national bird of Malaysia.
It's  so cute isnt it ? πŸ˜ƒ
So , one by one let's know about this marvelous bird 🐦

About it
They are a large species of forest Hornbills. They have golden yellow horn which is called as Casque located above its beak. It is hollow and made up of Keratin. It acts as a resonating chamber amplyfying the birds calls.  It's black feathers in the wings and body and the white one in the tail looks so mesmerizing. Both the males and females are similar but the only  difference  is that males have orange circles around the eyes whereas females have white one.

What does it represent ?
For some of the native Dayak groups of Borneo, the Rhinoceros Hornbill represents the chief of the birds and it is the state bird for the Malaysian state of Sarawak.

Habitat -
It is found in the forests of Peninsular Malaysia and in the islands of Borneo, Sumatra and Java.

Diet -
It feeds on small insects , lizards , fruits and mammals.

Adaptations
They have white thighs and stomach. Their top 2 vetebraes are joined together just like all the hornbill species. Although its common , it looks unusual. This adaptation helps it to support the weight of that casque which you just read a few minutes back.
The Hornbill arguably has the most interesting profile amongst their feathered brethren. It’s not only the symbol of the Malaysian Democratic Action Party, but it is also an important symbol for the tribes  in East Malaysia.
