So , yesterday i saw a video of a girl polishing her shoes with the petals of a red flower. I asked my mother. She said me that it is  Hibiscus flower. I was shocked to hear that amazing fact. So friends , next time you polish your shoe. Dont forget to use the petals of Hibiscus to  give it a  try. Great !!

Now let me get you back to my journey. Today i am here to share you some of my knowledge about Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis also known as Bunga Raya.

Most of us love to have nicknames among our friends and family. Right ? Do u know what do people call this flower species in various parts ??

Here it is 👇

Chinese Hibiscus , Shoe Black Plant , Hawaiian Hibiscus, Tropical Hibiscus , China Rose and many more.

I love  to see colour varities. We all love colours and attractions.

Isnt it ? Let's see how does Hibiscus Rosa Sinesis make us feel attracted to them ? 😀

These admirable flowers come in  wide range of colours - Orange, Pink, Red, Salmon, White and Yellow.

Let's quickly brush up some more info about them.
👇👇👇

Physical Description

The leaves are often lobed and may be smooth or covered in trichomes (plant hairs). The flowers can be borne singly or in clusters, and the flowers of many species last only a single day. An epicalyx (whorl of leaflike bracts that surrounds the sepals) is particularly common, and the stamens are typically fused into a tube. Members of the genus characteristically have spiny pollen, and their fruits are capsules.

Habitat

It may reach a height of 4.5 metres (15 feet), rarely exceeds 2 metres (6.5 feet) in cultivation. It is grown for its large somewhat bell-shaped blossoms. Cultivated varieties have red, white, yellow, or orange flowers

Let's revisit how the Bunga Raya

           became a symbol of love

for the birth of this  nation!!

In 1958, a year after Malayans shouted “Merdeka!” for the first time, the Ministry of Agriculture invited proposals for a national flower from all state governments.

Seven flowers were proposed, including hibiscus (Bunga Raya), ylang ylang (bunga kenanga), jasmine (bunga melur), magnolia (bunga cempaka), lotus (bunga teratai), rose (bunga mawar) and medlar (bunga tanjung).

The rose was preferred by those living on the East Coast, while those in the West Coast were partial to the jasmine.

After careful consideration, then Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj declared the hibiscus, or more specifically its subspecies Hibiscus rosa-sinesis, as the national flower on July 28, 1960.

The vibrant colours of the flower made it stand out; it also symbolised the courage and vitality of the people

The five conspicuous petals of the flower also fit well with the five principles of the Rukun Negara.

Apart from those reasons, the flower was commonly seen all over the country, blooming all day long and decorating the fences of many households.

While the hibiscus syracus is South Korea’s national flower and the yellow hibiscus is Hawaii’s state flower, hibiscus rosa-sinesis was chosen for the newly-independent Malaya.

This was the short story and significance behind Bunga Raya.

Friends i guess we have learnt a lot for now. We all understood about Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis for now. If you liked it please share and comment below to keep me supported. Till then ! Selamat tinggal.....
